Please be advised that all visitors to Belize MUST be in possession of a valid Passport, an onward / return ticket and sufficient funds (US$ 60.00 per day) to cover the cost of your length of stay.

Processing time for most applications is approximately 72 hours.

NOTE: Some applications require the approval of the Department of Immigration of Belize before the visas can be issued, and it is recommended that applicants contact this consulate to establish how long their applications will take to be processed.

Application fee plus shipping and handling charge (and additional overnight mail charge if required) must be paid via money order, certified checks or bank drafts to the order of the Consulate of Belize.

The Consulate cannot accept personal checks.

Same day service is offered for applicants applying in person who do not require Security nor Immigration clearance. Applicants not appearing in person for processing application forms will need to be notarized. Processing time: 7 days.

Visa Application

  1. The application form must be completed in its entirety, signed by the applicant and returned to the Consulate of Belize.
  2. The application must include a passport size photograph.
  3. You must include the applicant’s passport.
  4. If the applicant is resident in the United States, a legible photocopy of the applicant’s Alien Registration Card or the applicant’s passport with valid re-entry Visa to the United States.

Please be advised that in accordance with Statutory Instrument No. 15 of 2005, entitled “IMMIGRATION (PERMITS AND FEES) (AMENDMENT) REGULATIONS, 2005”, Visas to Belize now cost US$ 75.00 for a single entry, ninety day visa, US$ 150.00 for a multiple entry, ninety day visa.

A seven working day Security and Immigration clearance is required for nationals of the countries listed below. Also the visa fee is $250.00 for a single entry visa.

Bangladesh, Burma, Colombia, India, North Korea, Lebanon, Nepal, Pakistan, Palestine, Sri Lanka, Somalia, Sudan, Syria and Thailand.

For Nationals of the People’s Republic of China, Security and Immigration clearance is required. An application fee of $100.00 along with a visa fee of $2,000.00 applies. A repatriation of $4,000.00 also applies if the applicant is not a resident of the United States.

Requirements for U.S. Citizens to Enter Belize

All U.S. citizens must have a U.S. passport valid for the duration of their visit to Belize.

U.S. citizens do not need visas for tourists or business visits of up to thirty (30) days, but they must have onward or return air tickets and proof of sufficient funds to maintain themselves while in Belize. Visitors for purposes other than tourism, or who wish to stay longer than thirty (30) days, must obtain visas from the government of Belize.

Any U.S. citizen who wishes to travel to Belize for any purpose other than tourism or business negotiations (e.g. work, study, adoption, immigration, or stays longer than stipulated in the entry requirements) should contact the Consulate.
